Tanabata 2026

The Japanese summer festival Tanabata organized by the Czech-Japanese Association is probably the only event in the Czech Republic associated with the legend of the heavenly couple Orihime and Hikoboshi. This year we are preparing for you the 7th year, so definitely don’t miss it!

You can look forward to many activities with this legend, such as our typical picture search game. Our usual Japanese workshops are then connected with other Japanese traditions, such as tanzaku (wishes to hang on bamboo – see photo) or teru teru bōzu (Japanese talisman for/against rain).

To ensure that visitors can enjoy the whole day in the spacious Dolní Počernice Castle Park in Prague 9, we have prepared many vendors with Japanese food, drinks and art products.
