About us

The Czech-Japanese Association is a non-profit organization focused on developing fruitful cooperation and mutual understanding between the Czech Republic and Japan. Re-established in 1990, it was awarded by the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2011 for its “outstanding contribution to the development of Japanese-Czech relations.”

 

Our objectives

  • To promote mutual understanding, respect, and inspiration between the people of the Czech Republic and Japan
  • To promote Japanese culture among the Czech public, stimulate interest in studying Japanese and traditional and contemporary Japanese disciplines in cooperation with partner organizations in Japan and the Czech Republic, while promoting interest in Czech culture among Japanese people and assist in the integration of the Japanese community in the Czech Republic into the local environment

  • Spreading knowledge about Japan among the Czech public in all forms, i.e. by organizing lectures, courses, workshops, seminars, and symposiums, film and theatre performances, concerts and video projections, exhibitions, shows, festivals, etc., providing consultation and advisory services

  • publishing and distributing textbooks, books and other publications and informational materials, cooperating with the media in both countries

  • cooperating with state authorities and institutions in the interest of deepening mutually beneficial relations and contacts between the Czech Republic and Japan, including initiatives promoting the development of mutually beneficial commercial activities

  • assistance in establishing sister relations between organizations of all types and local government units in both countries, in organizing exchanges of young people, individuals, and various interest groups, and in developing tourism

  • support for creation, research, study, and activities whose content or goals are inspired by the interaction of the cultures of both countries, including philosophical, moral, and general ecological aspects, etc.

  • cooperation with international non-governmental organizations
