Courses
The Czech-Japanese Association offers courses in Japanese language, traditional culture and arts for students of different ages and levels of experience.
Most of our regular courses are taught in Czech. However, depending on the course and availability of our instructors, we may also be able to arrange lessons in English.

What do we offer?
Japanese Language
Japanese courses for different levels, from complete beginners to advanced students. We also offer individual lessons and courses for teenagers.

Individual Japanese lessons tailored to the student’s level, goals and preferred pace of study.

Czech for Japanese Speakers
Czech language courses designed specifically for Japanese speakers living, studying or working in the Czech Republic.
Japanese Calligraphy – Shodō
Regular courses introducing the art and techniques of Japanese calligraphy.
Sumi-e – Japanese Ink Painting
Courses in traditional Japanese ink painting for beginners as well as more experienced students.
Japanese Sword Studies – Nihontō Kenkyūkai
Specialised courses and activities for those interested in Japanese swords, their history, craftsmanship and appreciation.

- which course or subject you are interested in,
- your previous experience or level, if applicable,
- whether you are interested in group or individual lessons,
- and that you would prefer instruction in English.
This information will help us find the most suitable option for you and check availability with our instructors.

Registration for regular courses
If you would like to join one of our regular courses taught in Czech, please contact us at info@japan.cz and include your full name, telephone number and information about your CJA membership, if applicable.
Your place in the course is confirmed after payment of the course fee.
Practical information
Most language courses take place at the Czech-Japanese Association, Na Můstku 8/380, Prague 1. Selected courses may also be available online.
Calligraphy and sumi-e courses are held at Lucerna Palace, Vodičkova 36, Prague 1.
Current schedules, course fees, venues and other details are provided on the individual course pages or upon request.
Payment details will be provided upon registration.
Cancellation policy and payment terms
If you cancel more than 10 business days before the start of the course, we will refund 100 % of the course fee.
If you cancel 10–4 business days before the start of the course, we will refund 70 % of the course fee.
If you cancel 3–1 days before the start of the course, we will refund 50 % of the course fee.
From the start, during, or after the end (completion) of the course, there is no entitlement to a refund of the course fee, whether you do not attend the course or leave it prematurely for any reason.
The availability of a place in the course for you is only ensured after payment of the course fee; we will tentatively register you before the payment.
